faq's - PhotoEdit

Q. Is there an update that will make PhotoEdit compatible with Panther?

A. Yes, click here to update PhotoEdit to Panther.

Q. How do I crop my pictures and images in PhotoEdit?

A. The "crop" feature has been added under the Select menu; please make sure you have the current Panther update that also adds this feature.

Click here to update PhotoEdit to Panther.

Q. Can I use 3rd Party Photoshop compatible plug-ins with PhotoEdit?

A. No, but you can program your own effects by using the built-in script editor.

Q. Under what circumstances is the Revert command under the File menu active?

A. Whenever the picture has changed since the last time it was saved, and the picture points to an actual file.

When you turn on the 'Don't Save Over Original Images' option from the preferences, this will open any image as a copy and it doesn't point to any real file so the menu is disabled; to make it become enabled, you'll need the image to point to an actual file by saving it.

Q. The PhotoEdit manual says the Media Browser should also display movie files, but I cannot figure our how to do this. Can PhotoEdit extract a still from a movie?

A. No it cannot. The Media Browser only does this in MediaEdit Pro-the manual could not be updated when we made this change. MediaEdit Pro has PhotoEdit built in and is able to grab and edit images from within movies.

Q. Where can I find the "magic wand" and "lasso" features of PhotoEdit?

A. The "magic wand" and "lasso" features can be found in the same location as the "rectangle marquee." To change the selection type, click and hold down the "rectangle marquee" tool on the tool window. This pops up a menu allowing you to change to either a "magic wand" or "lasso."
